Obedience.

I feel that it is word that can either be looked at negatively or positively. Its a polarizing word.
Obedience requires faith in the person that is requesting it. Faith that they know the outcome will be good for me (you). If you dont have faith or respect for that person they why would you want to obey?
Many aspects of the gospel require obedience, and therefore, faith. Not all of the answers (or evidence of their truthfulness) are laid out in front of you. I have the faith that by following guidelines, that I will receive the blessings that are associated with them.
I even think that there are some guidelines in place simply to teach us obedience - and not necessarily anything else. We follow these "rules" and often times we justify them with other reasoning as to why they are there. Take, for instance, the word of wisdom. Why is coffee a part of that? I get the reasoning of alcohol - there are many bad side effects. Coffee - we tend to say - because it is addictive. Well, so can many other things. If we apply this reasoning to soda or sugar - its the same. So, Im not going to do that! Im going to simply say its a matter of obedience. And by so doing, my faith grows.

I don't consider myself a writer by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have a voice. A voice that may offer strength, compassion or encouragement - God willing.
Welcome to my random thoughts. Each day choosing to wake up and walk in a direction that brings me closer to God. A chance to focus on good. This blog is dedicated to finding daily strength and forever be light. Light to myself and light to those around me.
